Where are we now? and what do we enjoy the most?

Post by mrknowitall on Sun Oct 02, 2011 5:31 pm

so then. looks like bit by bit the community are coming back. but what's their No.1 train they love to drive? or route they like to run?

answer the poll and leave some feedback, And if you like, what you wish we had route and train wise.

i didnt add anymore due to it having some room for an update later if anyone else is to add any of their favourable sets

My fave. train is tricky as there is interior and exterior to consider. NWM is (was) without doubt THE route. I was looking forward to the class 31 external (he was soooo dirty!), would love to see Kilmarnock line, more Scottish stock and anything East Anglian (Particularly Great Yarmouth Smile )and of course a class 08!

Not going into another debate, but things like this. He gets upset, closes his site to viewing, then makes his trains or two, open's his site, goes to rail uk forums, and shows his work getting the " we <3 your work steve crowd " and then bathes in the comments.

I have not come back, but will keep my work aired and permission free so others can enjoy.
Anthony B is yet to comment on his posistion. But i have a feeling he is awaiting the newer version of TSF before releasing his work.
Gray is blasting out routes like fat kids eat cakes. at a good quality and keeping his cool during the little recession.

Other's i am not going to comment on.

his work is great, his attitude is crap, maybe that's why we clash? Wink

For sites, click on the worldwide links at the top, this is by far the most up to date place to be fore openbve.

For a cl43, visit pioneer trains
For irish routes and trains visit BWR
For the 323 visit railsimroutes
For every type of olden traction visit bvetmd
For a vast range of current emu, dmu, and freight visit bve4trains

There is a vast amount of traction out there all it takes is a google search

You eill also notice the development thread. All current wips are found there.

Thanks BEN...

The Worldwide Link did help alot ...

Not real sure what you mean "Traction" use google search

I am guessing Traction is Trains/Locomotives for OpenBVE...

Again Thanks

That's right Ed. There's a lot of english terms used here which will seem strange for USA users at first. This is an old post, the question at the beginning is mainly about UK rolling stock types (apart from the Irish 29000 dmu) I don't know if Americans have DMU,s, that's "diesel multiple units", where each car usually has its own engine.

(out of interest) If I can make a point corresponding to the best most detailed train I've seen so far (my point of view) its the trains over by pioneertrains. The 350 looks amazingly detailed, the class 180 is looking its best and the FGW HST is at its best. There are many more on other websites as well as pioneer trains so they won't get all the glory.

There are many well-detailed rolling stock items which have been made.
It is relatively pointless trying to compare when large numbers of users never touch routes outside their own country of residence, or even some who may only use stock from their own region.
For instance, there may well be some superb LU stock, though I would not know because I have no interest in urban transit at all. I see no mention of the excellent Czech motive power rolling stock which I have got.
Many users will have an all-favourite loco or MU class and won't want to use much else most the time. Which is OK too. So a "top of the pops" listing is really of no objective value whatsoever.

My favourite locos and units are; Class 43, 47, 60, 50, 66, 31, 58, Cl 170 and Voyager.

Favourite routes; Most of MNW and with mix of traction. Edinburgh-Aberdeen, ECML and Carlisle-Newcastle.

Over the last year or so I have taken hugely to Graymac's Irish routes and trains. Fantastic resolution in both trains and routes that make them a joy to run, and to watch for the many fantastic little touches such as villages, work & factory buildings and the excellent Harbour scenes, not to forget the nice touch of having a plane come into land at the airport station. His towns and villages all look complete enough to warrant the railway that runs to them.

I also run the LU trains from time to time, so altogether I always have something to make a change and not let running OpenBVE become boring.

I keep hoping for the long proposed Watford-Rugby and Northampton route to show up. I know they will run just great on my new computer. Likewise the Birmingham North local route. Just have to keep hoping, I suppose!

I have kept most of the Routes and Trains saved from BVE4 and run them on OpenBVE every now and again. BVE4 won't run on my new computer.

Whatever the route or train I am always in great appreciation of the authors who take so much time to make them possible.

I haven't been very active on the forum of late but my interest remains. I have just returned from a great weekend visiting the Ecclesbourne Railway, the Sheephouse Narrow guage railway and a 30 mile walk over the High Peak Trail between Wirksworth and Parsley Hay and back again, in one day. 10 hours and 55 minutes in total with a 35 minute refreshment break. I still have the blisters to prove it! But really chuffed that I can still manage such an effort at 71.

My regards to everyone for keeping OpenBVE going and up-to-date.

BVE4 won't run on my new computer.
Oh, it sure will.... Only use it for the LU Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines to be fully able to appreciate the station walls... I guess I like the 323 in Open the most because it's, well, the most advanced... I wonder if there is a highly detailed Networker project somewhere out there... (and if not then an Electrostar)

@BillEWS - Fair play to you, Bill. You're doing better than me with the walking. I did a five miler last sunday round some bogland and lanes (the loop walk, just up the road from me, shown on here: www.clogherheritage.com )and the auld knees were feeling the strain!

Well, let's strike up the band! Good to see us auld yens are showing the way. Can't begin to compete with you, Bill, but I try to do my bit by cycling to work and back every day. Knees aren't the problem, Graham, it's the 4 wheeled motorists that give me the biggest pain..!

Keep it up lads, we'll show these nippers a thing or two.
