Don't take it too personally Jeff, it's nothing unusual to post something one considers funny and the others don't... That happens to everybody from time to time. It sure will happen to you sometime again, just take it easy.

I don't see any issue here... I just don't get the point, that's all. Maybe I am being thick, as graymac says.albino

I agree with Dexter. The Twitterverse, to my mind, is a rather strange and pointless place and is the cause of a lot of arguments. Perhaps a rule to live by might be, "What starts on Twitter STAYS on Twitter".

**Incidentally, I have never used Twitter, neither do I intend to.

There's always a double-edgedness to criticising things one doesn't use, Gray... I must say I don't use Twitter neither, so I also don't really grasp the sense of limiting oneself to 140 signs (or was it 170? Anyway...); and yet I know for a fact, that Twitter is a powerful tool in customer relations (the Twitter channel of DB is a very heavily used support service of DB. Short question, short answer. No need for polishing phrases, as there's simply no space for that. "Duisburg central, track 5, elevator doesn't work." - "thank you, passed it on.") and if one is to believe the press (yeah, it's admittedly hard at times) Twitter played a big role in many parts of the Arab Spring; as an instrument of quick exchange, planning, warning etc.

I said I didn't use it, NOT that I hadn't looked at it. I'm quite aware what it is and I have determined that it is of no use to me, in so far as there would be minimal benefit and maximun inconvenience gained for an excessive amount of time and effort invested.

Lately I have been thinking about the ratio of time spent online (at work AND at home) doing pointless stuff, compared to quality productive or leisure time. Social network sites, email and just plain information overload is becoming a real problem. A rationalisation drive is called for, I think.

Huh, that sure is not to be doubted, it's enough to look how beautiful the weather became once again this week with trees getting coloured, gals putting on their nicest outfits once again before winter comes and then see, how many people never take their nose out of their tablet or smartphone...
