OpenBVE Maximum Speed Control

Post by waterburn on Sun May 05, 2013 10:45 pm

Is there a way to force the train into emergency in OpenBVE if the train goes above a certain speed anywhere on the line? Currently I am using Odakyufan's plugin for speed control in certain areas using speed check beacons.

Well the seltrac plugin that the DLR and KCR West Rail uses has this feature since the purpose of the plugin is ATO and if it goes above the maximum speed , the emergency brakes apply

The question that stands there is how to copy the code into the plugin that he is using, and you would need the original OS_ATS.dll

What plugin does the Toronto Transit use?

Can I use both Odakyufan's plugin and the OS ATS for the trains?

I got it. Just wondering if I can have the functionality of both plugins?

You can only use ONE plug-in AFAIK. So you need to know enough to be able to write the functions, even if they came originally from more than one plug-in which you had considered using. Copyright issues could arise, beware.

I'm not sure if you know the meaning correctly, but that "maximum speed" is kind of affected by ATP's "permitted speed", and it has a more accurate name, which is "breaking speed".

Generally, the maximum speed would be a constant value, for example 80kph. If the train, whatever the mode it's operating, ATO, or Permitted Manual, is riding on a section which does not have a ATP "permitted speed", if it's riding over the "maximum speed", then the mechanism will use service brake to reduce the speed of the train only.

imo waterburn is more likely talking about the second one. It's already a function written on OS_ATS, through it's quite easy to be programmed inside a new standalone DLL library.
