Czech BVE Site Is Back!

Post by vince_black on Thu Apr 18, 2013 9:06 pm

Hello, former Czech site bve.cz is dead for a long time. I moved my pages to a new URL www.bvesim.cz. There you can find the same stuff which was on old site.

I'm sorry this site was long time off. It was caused by a fact it was not my own domain and the owner let it expire, although I noticed him to pay for it (of course I would send my money to him). The another reason was I wasn't sure if it has sense to continue with BVE/openBVE site, because I'm interested in many other projects and I'm very busy. Finally I decide to try it (at least for a year, until next domain expire, ha, ha), because I think some people still would like to download some stuff or find some informations about trains and routes.

So, bve.cz is past, welcome on a new site bvesim.cz!

Wonderful news, at least for me it is. :-) I hope the traffic will show this site is a very appreciated one. Have you considered a donation system to help cover your domain / hosting expenses?

No, it wasn't too expensive. As I wrote in previous message, question was in sense of continue. It wasn't about money.

We appreciate you keeping it running, thanks Vince. There may not be as many active developers as we would like, hopefully what we lack in quantity is made up for in quality. Your contribution is of great help.

Vince, thank you very much for your effort!

On a sidenote, the Svět BVE PDF links seem to be not updated yet, it would be great if you could change those. Thanks again!

Hi,

I would like to download the cd181 train from Vince's website. However, the link is dead. Can this be fixed?

Thanks,

Jorge

Damned, I didn't realize what all I have to change after moving to a new domain Embarassed . Links for all engines are dead because they have old URL with "bve.cz" (it's about download counter). I will fix it until tomorow (12/5). If you can't wait, send me an e-mail via PM.

Thanks for the notice and understainding and please accept my apologies.

Looks very good. I like the virtual depot pages, with the pictures of the real stock and the model shown together. The Irish locos are showing up well!!  Smile

It's a little bit shame I don't make any updates for a long time. Now I will try to catch the lost time and update my site.

The CD 181 train is excellent, this is the first time I drive it. I like the panel and sounds.

At first I couldn't start the engine, then I found out that I need to press 6 to start and 7 to stop.

I have also edited the train.dat file. The first car has to be a motor car in order to hear the motor sounds. This is only needed for openBVE.

It's nice to see another one of us oldies still around and resurrecting things Smile
Not sure there's anyone else left active who remembers, yet alone tried developing for Mechanik!
Let me know if you're thinking of leaving next year, I hate to see the older sites dropping and the content vanishing.

I will note that your object database links are still pointing to bve.cz

Cheers

Hi Chris,

I think you may find that there are many left from the old days but unfortunately we have also lost many. Big Vern introduced me to Mechanik and the it was either his site or CroTrainz that mentioned this obscure Japanese sim called BVE. Not sure exactly when I started though it was early in the new millennium.

Unfortunately through the changes we go through in our lifetimes, we have lost many a good developer and their creations in most cases forever.

Bye for now,

Stephen.
