Making Camera stay as train Passes

Post by CaptED on Sun Sep 16, 2012 6:13 pm

Hi Gang ...

I need to know how to move the Camera View around a curve and then turn on AI and train comes to camera...

and of course passes and I want to be able to see it from the rear ....

I am wanting to attempt to make a movie...

Now I know to get outside and F9 to move away from train... but train and camera move together this way...

Now I do assume the movie makers are doing this all in one shot... ??

I am going to use "Bandicam" and Divx converter (smaller file) and no audio...

Your comments on any of this is appreciated ....

F3 is static trackside camera F4 is "fly by" camera (pans with train)
Numeric keypad Num5 moves you to current train poition, Num 7 moves forwards to next viewpoint, Num 1 moves backwards.

Some routes have preset viewpoints defined, some don't. Generally speaking if no set viewpoints are defined then Num 7 will jump to next station, stations seeming to be automatically accepted as defined viewpoints by default.

For those who have seen the U-Bend vid on the celtictrainsim.com site, the scenes were captured from the windowed game using Hypercam2 available off the web. I used Serif MoviePlus starter edition (recommended) to do the edits. The Serif program took care of the file formatting and loading for YouTube, which was great as I'm not movie-literate.
