Corrupted files

Post by CaptED on Sun Aug 26, 2012 2:27 pm

Hi Derryck...

New to OpenBVE... "graymac" turned me on to the Forum and to your website...

Loved the Video of the newest scenery...

Went to your website to download the lastest "First Brno Track"
When downloading the objects (2) the file names end .001 & .002
I did try both extracting with 7z ... Removed the .001 & .002 leaving it
ending in .7z.....
They are coming up corrupted...
any ideas PLEASE...

These are the only two files that are corrupted ...
I have tried downloading in Internet Explorer & Chrome ...

Thanks
Ed

Google HJSplit, download it, put it somewhere, open it, click the Join button, and input the .001 file. .002 should be found automagically.

How to handle 7-zip files

Post by Dexter on Mon Aug 27, 2012 11:31 am

Hi Ed,

even though you have already found a solution, I would recommend (instead of searching for additional software) just opening the 7-zip window, selecting all requested files (the original, downloaded ones) directly there and pressing "decompress" (or maybe it is "unpack", I am not sure at the moment).
Do NOT unpack such files through a file manager (i.e. Total Commander), as it requires an external decompressor set up properly.

Nice to have you here, looks like I owe Gray a pint. Very Happy

Hello.
I have been using 7-zip to download content for Open BVE.

I have successfully managed to unpack most content except the follwing:
Cl175_Arriva from Graymac Celtictrainsim

class104_blue_livery_pack.zip
class104_blue_livery_pack.zip both BVE TMD

It comes up with invalid command when ethier trying to open or extract. Any idea where I'm going wrong? Re-downloading didn't help
cheers

I had a similar enquiry - there was nothing wrong with the Cl175 file, the user concerned found this solution and informed me:

. . . . . can only use 7z by opening it first, not right clicking the file.
got route working now. looks good.

so perhaps this will help if the usual right-click isn't working. I haven't had any problems with the 3 PCs over which I rule, nor have any of the several testers of CTS routes so it doesn't seem to be a common problem. Maybe a re-install of the .7z programme needed??

Think that's my best bet as that's  my email your quoting!

Edit: Determined it's not a 7-zip problem. Stranges it's just those files. Think it might bve security related.
