Class 395 in peterborough

Post by rick1984 on Sat Jun 02, 2012 12:39 am

When in Peterborough 2 days ago, saw more than normal train spotters, so I knew something was happening . Then I was taking pics of the snow plough and saw a DB class 60 with some trucks and I tried to take a photo but didn't have enough battery.

Then I looked up and there was a 395 javelin. Just got a glimpse, but they do actually look very smart.

Nah - the 395 availablity has to be around 90% with anywhere between 3 and 5 sets OOS (as far as I know), the 91 is probably the same

395 availablity has to be around 90%

The Irish 22000 fleet is commented on in an IRRS bulletin:

Units are running approximately 200,000km each per annum and the fleet has performed extremely well since introduction and has surpassed early expectations and targets. Availability and reliability levels are impressive and compared directly with our nearest neighbour the UK the reliability is several times that achieved by the best performing DMU in the UK.

East Coast are actually pretty tight at the moment! With the Class 91s and 43s being repainted during exams and the fact the eureka time table is running there trains into the ground they hardly have any spare at all.

@Graymac - the 22000 won the Golden Spanner last year for most improved fleet.

Generally, there's about 3-4 3ICR's sitting around for most of the day, with the ability to swap sets around to create spares.

As for EC, I wasn't too sure (when I last used the East Coast, it was still GNER!), but I think you've just said somnething - repainted during exams they would have had even without repainting

I was wondering how much of a fleet is used when passing crown depot in Norwich, as there is always various mk3 carriages and DVT's sat in the sidings
