Hi Derryck, tried both route viewer and object viewer they are working fine, did you think somehow it may be a problem affecting more than you?..regards

Yes, I was asking because if I am not mistaking good programmers know how to put "expiration date" of their software into the code... the software then becomes inactive from the given date. But fortunately reinstallation of the tools helped - it it still weird though.

I think that is inclining toward the paranoid. Exp date inclusion would be expected in commercial software but not in open access programmes such as this. If I may say so, it seems a rather uncharitable thought to express. Conspiracy theories are very destructive, you don't need me to name examples, at all.

No worries, I am still sane. Very Happy It was just one of the thoughts that came around, along with my rabbit hacking the program. albino I'm not being paranoid (what's that sound and why is everyone staring at me???)

Seriously, it was just one of many thoughts.

There's free software with expiration dates, btw. That would be e.g. the download versions of the online signal box simulation STS Stellwerksim (downloads not available for some time now due to extensive renovation of the system); used to make the users download the newest version always. This way people don't ask for support with weird questions which clear up only after some long investigation when it becomes clear they use some outdated version. So...

I was actually suspecting (or thinking, pick what suits you) something else, but that will apparently not be the case.

Once is normal, twice is a co-incedence, three times is the time to worry...Have you looked in contol panel/administrative tools/event viewer/application, it sometimes helps in pointing the way to the problem..(assuming your using xp..)what about downloading a fresh copy, rather than installing the one you have on file.....regards

Well, I have downloaded a new copy... and I also ran troubleshooting. I am on WIN7, but there was no result, anyway... I reinstalled once again and it is working again. This is really weird...

"KONSPIRACY KORNER"

OK. Scrap "What's the Station?" And let's have "What's the Theory", or as above, "Konspiracy Korner"
Then we shall see the best, worst and craziest ideas of WHY things have gone t*ts-up with BVE all in the past and present. And even theories for future conspiracies too!!

Someone else I know (or may not...) also complained this problem but no solution.
You'd probably want to compile it by yourself...

Before you go off and make yourself a lot of work, derryck, just think about it, how come you are the only one having this problem, surely, even the greatest coder couldnt even target an individual computer......I still get quite a lot of crashes using route viewer, but mine is down to system resouces.........regards

Not a reinstall but a reboot got my RouteViewer and ObjectViewer going. I'm also experiencing the same problem, when I was on my Windows 7 Pro before my 17 inch monitor died today for an entirely separate cause (which is why I'm on my Ubuntu laptop). When this happens in ObjectViewer, the XYZ coordinates guide and background remains fine, but the performance was dramatically reduced to a framerate near to none, the outline of the object remains as it is but the meshes got all blurred, I also noticed the process took more than twice than normal. There are no visual faults in RV except everything takes more than twice than expected, thus you have to press your keyboard for longer.
