Beijing Line 8 Rolling Stock

Post by lonelyinardwick on Wed May 09, 2012 7:52 pm

I'm actually doing this for @SkiTube, I have been hard at it for a few months already, just wanted to bring back the spirit Smile

First captured screenshot taken @ 20.11.2011

Now the rolling stock is about 60%~70% complete, and there are still a lot of adjustments to do:
Latest captured screenshot taken @ 25.03.2012, since that screenshot, lots of interior changes.

Never heard someone saying that to "openBVE Demo Route 1"

I wonder how many ever really took a look at that quaint little item. It wasn't intended as a masterpiece, although it did have a lot of useful coding bits in it. And I should know, because I've used most of them at least as a starting point for animations.

Transparency Bug Fixed

Post by lonelyinardwick on Sat May 12, 2012 8:57 pm

Before the rewrite of the entire front on @SkiTube's as a single mesh, openBVE didn't render the transparency correctly and there were several bugs found, this was a similar issue to @GAM's 1996 Cabin Dashboard.

The rewrite was a little messy, I couldn't be entirely optimistic nor efficient when encountering this issue, a LOT of texture/mesh reshuffling and reallocating, but eventually, there are no unexpected white lines around the frontal area.

2012-05-12 Update on @SkiTube's Beijing Line 8 Rolling Stock: Front carriage have now been transformed prior to the same transformation to the rear carriage, I could've used Michelle's 'reverse =true' feature but I was using the good old-fashioned exterior section. Wink

I won't be taking anymore development until next Tuesday because of my AS Applied Business exam on Monday,
after then I'll begin to take a look at @busheyheath's CSLR loco and wagon. This development can take a little longer,,

In reality, the entire line is underground at the moment...
I might release the route as a 4 station demo first up, because it's nice and straight, and a few copy and paste will do.
The actual route is still under construction, and I think my BVE construction will be slower than the actual construction Very Happy
Thanks again to Wongie for doing this, really appreciated.
Once he has this done, it's just a matter of copy and paste for another train, but the running system (i.e. brakes, acceleration, speed, etc) will be a little bit different.

More than approximately 6 months had passed since I received this gracious project from @SkiTube, I encountered soo many challengs and frustrations, even blood and tears to get this far. This is because of the amount of changes including vertices alignments and texture adjustments that are yet to be done, just on the interior alone. In my humble opinion, I wish I had spent more time making my first route but to no avail. I've yet to buy a new VGA monitor so I can work on my Windows 7 Desktop Computer, whilst openBVE isn't working on my Ubuntu 12.04LTS Laptop (however ObjectViewer is working). College exams are still a priority, unfortunately. But I promise to all a quality Chinese rolling stock for openBVE in the near possible future.

Well done, Wongie, this is a great credit to you for your application and devotion to what is clearly a challenging project. But remember your exams come first and foremost and I wish you every success with them.

Good Luck,

John

Well, half term holiday just started but even then there are soo many events coming up. Diamond Jubilee celebration, "Macunian" calling at Manchester Piccadilly next Saturday and window shopping. Razz

(Another reason's the Olympic Games)
