Virignia Water / Strawbeery Hill to Waterloo

Post by Stephen Cross on Wed Feb 29, 2012 8:20 pm

Hi all,

Thanks to Alan G I received a copy of his Twickenham to Waterloo just before Chrismas and what a nice route it would have made. I have since done my usually meddling and played around with trackwork, platforms and signals etc, and yes hey even made a structure being the bridge across the Thames in an earlier post.

I have since spent some hard earned and got a 225Studios DVD of the route and this has helped immensely. I have now taken Alan's original route and extended backwards firsty towards Reading and hence the Virginia Water in the subject heading. Secondly I went over the flyover and went back to Strawberry Hill station but not the depot as there are many many tracks in there. This will eventually be routed along the relief line to rejoin the mainline after St Margarets.

This has been great fun and will probably never see the light of day. I for one cannot produce the structures that I see gracing this Forum and until I contact Alan it will remain as per his wishes unpublished.

OK not all doom and gloom, for I have enjoyed this project and learnt a lot that I had forgotten and more. I stopped putting up screenshots as it seemed a bit pointless. I continue to assist Aaron S whenever he asks and have stopped work on a new set of undergound rails as I believe another is already on to that. As to the PIccadilly LIne, again I have a version that was sent to me be Tom B that he never released publicly, so again it will live on my PCs until I hear from him.

Bye for now,

Stephen.

There's no copyright on the actual route, Stephen. You could make it with your own toil and effort, using the Video as reference. I don't say it will be easy, but you do have most of the skills to hand and you are quite capable of understanding the process. At least consider the thought.

I was wondering, is it possible for me to get the Twickenham- Waterloo route?

NO ITS NOT!

This route will not grace the OpenBVE simulator, that's quoted.

I can confirm you WILL BE ABLE to get a copy of the TWI-WAT route... but not for OpenBVE.

I don't need to reassure Stephen as im sure he knows the grounds of the permission regarding him having a copy of that route.

But by all means Stephen please show screenshots! be a waste to let it go to shame! either that or record a train running the route! and upload to youtube Very Happy

Unless anyone wishes to build this route entirely by their own efforts there is no point in discussing it further. Guillyman has made it clear that his work is not to be misused and that wish is to be respected.
Anyone who has had access to Guillyman's unreleased work privately will keep it that way, so don't ask for it as you won't get it.
End.

Hi all,

I have been given the opportunity to view and play with Alan's creation with the strict understanding that it must never be released for OpenBVE. It has given me the chance to relearn old skills and learn some new ones along the way. I will continue to respect his wishes, fear not.

I am sure Alan understood this when he sent me the files. Prior to my illness it was all BVE and hence the need for me to learn the new world. I'm from the old world but are truly greatful for those that kept our Community alive.

Bye for now,

Stephen.

Hi all,

I have reluctantly decided that due to Alan's divorce from the OpenBVE world that I will no longer continue to further his Twickenham route for OpenBVE.

The time spent was an enjoyful experience. My strengths are with track formations etc and I will continue to assist Aaron S when he asks.

I am also involved in another OpenBVE route but that is very much mum at the moment.

Bye for now,

Stephen.

It is a pity your efforts won't see the light of day, although I'm sure the experience gained byso far will be of value to you.
Good luck and success to your undisclosed project! Very Happy
