Bombardier's woes could be unnecessary...

Post by kwijiboenator on Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:48 pm

I believe that there is work for Bombardier if only they opened dialogue more with ROSCO's and TOC's.

Cross Country REALLY need extra coaches on the 220/221 trains they operate. Yes this does mean reconstructing the assembly line - but it is worth it.

But if doing that is too difficult, how about if it were to create 172's for Northern, to allow it to get shut of the Pacers/Sprinters?

All bombardier has to do is approach these companies and the powers that be. I really don't think whining on and on and on about how it lost Thameslink, as Alsthom has about losing the Eurostar contract to Siemens.

Any evidence of a dynamic sales force searching out every opportunity?
If they are like this now, what will happen when the Chinese start pushing for business? The following is worth a read:

You would have thought that bombardier - who seem perfectly able to market private jets - would be able to market the ex-BREL plant, wouldn't you?

I don't think the planes are sold by the UK division, I may be wrong.
But the rail operation in GB is such a small part of the company that I don't believe the Canadian bosses give a toss about it, possibly they want it to fade away. In which case they are going the right way about it.

Yes, but you would have thought being a big multinational, Bombardier would have it's reputation to maintain?

Anyway - it seems the Top Gear team heard about this, and put together some [rather amusing] ideas themselves: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b012qrz1/Top_Gear_Series_17_Episode_4/

You mean like News International??? Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Seriously though, it's either down to bungling incompetence or there's a hidden agenda. And with multinationals you never know which. Some of these companies operated in my home county of Glosterwostersomeroxwiltshire (no names) and they were devious buggers either out to shaft the workers or the govt when subsidies migh be had. And in all cases which I have in mind it was the work force which ended up carrying the can. And in that respect, where's the reputation of most multinationals you can think of??

To be honest, from that incident of Bombardier's seizing of our Czech 109E loco, I dislike Bombardier a lot...
