Suggestions for the Route Shifter tool

Post by phontanka on Sun Jul 26, 2015 2:02 am

First of all, let me say a big thank you to Anthony and Dexter for the excellent Route Shifter tool available from http://brnobve.eu/?page_id=195 . It does a great job. Having just used it, I have two suggestions for its further development:

1. The decimal separator character should be hardcoded to be a . and not depend on regional settings. I had to change regional settings to English, because by default it was a , because in my language that is the decimal separator.

2. This may be the harder part. The programme should look for all the files included in the With Track section of the route file using the $Include() command and shift those too. Of course I could easily shift them manually but I had about 40 include files. Smile

So again, thanks for the great tool!

I've used the route shifter tool on several occasions. I never experienced any problems re decimal character.
As for the second item, I seldom have more than half a dozen with track includes in any of my routes up to present time, but 40???? Surprised

Have posted this in a couple of threads, an unfinished project of mine:

http://www.bvecornwall.co.uk/downloads/beta/DTBeta.zip

The route shift tool in there will handle files within $Include directives, as will all the others Smile
I *think* I hardcoded the decimal separator as a period, but I'm at work, so can't check just now.

Please backup before testing, as my test file subset is relatively small , and only UK based stuff.

If it mangles something, drop me a mail with the original file and I'll fix it.

Cheers

Graymac: you probably don'rt experience such issues because your regional settings are set to a language/country where the decimal separator is . but that is not the case in Hungary, Poland and I think Germany.

As for the large number of $Include() files: I use ForestBuilder to build the route and it produces such files.

Chris: I got a couple of error messages, I'll send them to you.

Please do, you're obviously doing something I don't expect as I've just had a quick play with some ForestBuilder files, which work as expected Smile
I've got a nasty suspicion that it's probably decimal separator related though.....

A complete file is most helpful (rather than the errors), simply as I can then step it in the debugger.

Cheers
