brsigs availability

Post by graymac on Sat Jun 07, 2014 6:00 pm

Can anyone say if the original brsigs for bve4 are still available to download. They were originally distributed from the now defunct http://www.trainsimcentral.co.uk site.

I think no Grey, but if you have posted this because you want a copy.

Just let me know and I will e-mail it to you.

I do have them, Steve. Thing is, they're used in some of my earlier routes and although most users have them already there's a possible problem for "newbies", who don't.
I would be  prepared to seek permissions and distribute them from my site - but only if they were unavailable otherwise.

Speaking of availability, OpenAL Installer isn't available from Creative Labs anymore. So users will have to get it somehow, or have openBVE port to a different audio library, perhaps openAL-Soft

The zipfile "oalinst" is served from the OBVE site of Odakyufan. See the install guide page: http://odakyufan.zxq.net/openbve/install.html
Is that not sufficient for a clean install of the audio dependencies?

Ohh I see, okdakyufan had already updated the link to an archived page. For Linux, though..

Ps. Had a thought lately whether openBVE could use a different audio dependency or enhance algorithm.

I do realise that actually Gray!

There's many routes with that folder in them, so it's quite easy to move it in to a route you might be making.

What was supposed to happen was that the Trainsimstuff  site would have it and a lot of the old TSC work on it that is still relevant to many developers.

But so far that has not happened, although I must admit if you feel you can make a route and you need something you should be able to find it.

So they are not really unavailable.

Just maybe a bit harder to find or a search engine away in most cases!
